What Is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is exactly what it says on the tin, marketing your dance studio, classes and shows via social media. This can be completed in various ways, including:

Organic posting

Organic content includes posts you do not pay for, shared by you or your team on your social media profiles, and appearing directly in your followers' feeds. Example posts can include:

  • Class timetables

  • Class changes

  • Meet the team/dance instructors

  • Dancing lessons

  • Top tips

  • Why customers should choose your dance lessons over any other teacher or studio

Paid social media advertising  - in simple terms, is where your social media content is ‘sponsored’, and you pay money to ensure that it’s shown to the right audience. These posts can be created in various forms, including:

  • Sponsored posts - adding money to a previously created organic post

  • Carousel ads - having a series of images, videos, or other media content in a carousel advert that appears across both Facebook and Instagram

  • Single image ads - same as the above, but this will feature only one image

Creation of Facebook groups —Create a dedicated Facebook group that people can join if they’re interested in your dance studio or topic. This group allows you to engage with current members, book classes, and share updates like class schedules, recital dates, and more, all in one convenient place!

8 Tips For Boosting Your Class Attendance With Social Media Marketing

Social media, it’s something that 5.17 billion people* around the world are logging into and are actively using, making it one of the biggest audiences that you can tap into to grow and expand your business.

“But HOW?” We hear you scream? Have no fear, Class Manager is here to share some exciting and easy-to-follow tips and tricks!

  1. Can You Be Found On Social Media?

First things first, unfortunately, you can’t increase your class enrollment on social media if you can’t be found on Social Media. Ensure you can be found by existing and potential students (and their parents) by having a strong social media presence. For this, you should make sure you have:

  1. A social media page or account (On either Facebook or Instagram - better yet, both!)

  2. A strong brand or presence that people will be able to recognize and know what you do quickly - this should be the same colors as your dance studio branding, uniforms, and logo.

2. Create Engaging Content

Your social media profile should act as a window into your dance studio, showcasing what it is you do, how you teach your classes, what age ranges and abilities you specialize in as well the dance styles you offer.

Your posts can include videos, photos, and so much more, such as

  • Tours of your studio

  • Class Schedule

  • Taster class availability, prices, and discounts

  • Choreography tips (basics for beginners to expert level)

  • Videos of your students dancing

The opportunities are endless and the limit? Only the limit of your imagination!

3. User-Generated Content (UGC)

User-generated content, UGC, is a tactic that’s used by marketing and retail brands across social media, with fantastic results. Essentially, this is where your parents' or students create the content for your social media account. A great way to spread your messaging and encourage engagement.

OR

What you may have seen is a ‘story takeover’ this is where notable Instagram or Facebook accounts are ‘taken over’ by a notable influencer or celebrity. Why not allow one of your teachers or students to ‘takeover’ your socials for the day and see what type of content or social media buzz they can create?

4. Utilizing Stories

Posting regular content on your Instagram and Facebook stories is a great way to highlight and showcase the day-to-day activities of your dance studio.

Snapping pictures or videos of real-time events. Regular updates, interactive components, and images and videos that don’t make it onto your main feed. (The social media takeover option we mentioned earlier can also be applied here.)

  1. Regular Posting

It’s important to post regularly on your social media account. This helps keep your dance studio at the forefront of your customers' minds and builds brand recognition.

However, there is a fine line between regular posting and posting too often. You don’t want to overwhelm your audience or saturate their feeds, but you do want to be present. We recommend posting at least once every couple of days while regularly updating your social media stories.

  1. Encourage Engagement

Audience engagement is key to expanding your social media reach. When users comment, like, or share your content, it’s more likely to reach a wider audience. But how do you boost engagement? Here are some ideas:

  • Ask questions: “What type of content would you like to see?” or “Which dance style or choreography do you want to learn next?”

  • Host giveaways and competitions to create excitement and encourage interaction.

  • Share a video or image and challenge your audience to ‘caption it.’

With a little creativity, your audience will be inspired to connect, interact, and share your content!"

  1. Utilize Paid Advertising

Paid social media advertising is a great way to reach your target audience. You can create a paid advertising campaign targeting your ideal market, ie parents, or people with relevant interests and hobbies. This way, you will be able to reach people who otherwise may not have found you.

  1. Scheduling Tools

At Class Manager, we know how busy dance studio owners are, with lots of different plates spinning constantly. This is why when the creative social media juices hit it can be helpful to create as much content as you can, when you have the time.

This is when scheduling platforms come into their own.

You can schedule your content to go out at a time and date that best suits you. Some scheduling platforms include Canva, Meta (Facebook), HubSpot, and more. This way, you can organize class schedules, plan choreography, or teach a dance lesson and relevant content can be posted on your social media accounts automatically, without you having to worry about it.

There’s nothing more frustrating than when you’re just heading to bed, or sitting down to relax and realizing you need to create and upload a social media post.
